Helsinki

            Helsinki (Helsingfors) is the capital and largest city of Finland. It is in the region of Uusimaa, located in southern Finland, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, an arm of the Baltic Sea. The population of the city of Helsinki is 596,233 (31 January 2012),making it by far the most populous municipality in Finland.
            The main landmarks are Helsinki Cathedral (Helsingin tuomiokirkko, Helsingfors domkyrka), Suomenlinna Fortress (Sveaborg), Senate Square (Senaatintori), Aurinkolahti beach, City Hall, Aleksanterinkatu, Eläintarhanlahti, Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland (Suomen evankelis-luterilainen kirkko), Parliament of Finland (Suomen eduskunta), Cafe Regatta, Kamppi Center, the University of Helsinki (Helsingin yliopisto, Helsingfors universitet), Kiasma museum, The National Museum of Finland (Suomen kansallismuseo), The Senaatintori square, Helsinki market square (Kauppatori, Salutorget), The Uspenski Orthodox cathedral (Uspenskin katedraali, Uspenskij-katedralen), the Finnish National Theatre (Suomen Kansallisteatteri).
