Neman River

             Neman River (Nyoman, Niemen, Nemunas, Неман, Ня́мунас) is a major Eastern European river rising in Belarus and flowing through Lithuania before draining into the Curonian Lagoon and then into the Baltic Sea at Klaipėda. It is the northern border between Lithuania and Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast in its lower reaches. It's the 14th largest river in Europe, the largest in Lithuania and the third largest in Belarus, it is navigable for most of its 940-kilometer length. 
             The main tributaries are: Neris (Viliya), Shchara and Šešupė. The largest settlements on the river are: Klaipėda/Memel, Sovetsk/Tilsit, Masty/Mosty, Hrodna/Grodno, Druskininkai/Druskienniki, Alytus/Olita, Kaunas/Kovno, Neman/Ragnit.
