Thabana Ntlenyana

              Thabana Ntlenyana which literally means "Beautiful little mountain" in Sotho language, is the highest point in Lesotho and the highest mountain in southern Africa. It is situated on the ridge of the Drakensberg mountains near Sani Pass. It stands at 3482 m high. It had a prominence of 2,390 m (7,841 ft). It is made of basalt and surrounded by similarly high mountains, the peak is less pronounced. 
             Thabana Ntlenyana is Africa's highest mountain south of Mount Meru, which lies just south of Kilimanjaro. It is not unusual to find snow on the summit, because its location is away from the equator and because of its altitude. The Sani Pass road is very close.
