Paleoindians migrated from Asia to what is now the United States mainland around 15,000 years ago. European colonization began around 1600 and came mostly from England. After Declaration of Independence the United States embarked on a vigorous expansion across North America throughout the 19th century, displacing native tribes, acquiring new territories, and gradually admitting new states.
United States of America had a population of 315,250,000. The most populous city is New York (8,244,910). Other big cities are: Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Antonio, San Diego, Dallas.
